About Us
Samaritan House Ministries (SHM) has been operating since 1986 (Reg. Charity # 107951790 RR0001). SHM is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, representing the fields of health care, education, business, and social and spiritual services.

Our mission statement reads:
“Laboring together with one vision… to help those in need.”

We strive to help people from a holistic perspective, addressing physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs. This model is also the basis of the medicine wheel in aboriginal cultures. Our logo depicts the medicinal wheel along with the cross representing our motivation as a Christian organization called by Jesus to reach out and help those in need.

On a physical level, we provide food hampers to about 2000 people per month, almost 50% of who are children. SMH also offers clothing and household items, and a daily drop-in program.

On an emotional level, we provide second-stage safe housing and counseling to abused women and children. Our Family Group Conference Project responds to the child protection needs of families.

On an intellectual level, SHM provides adult upgrading for those looking to find employment, obtain their GED, or further their education. Literacy is a key component of our programs.

On a spiritual level, we offer spiritual support and referrals to culturally appropriate supports. Devotions are held daily. For those with other spiritual or cultural needs, we make referrals to churches and other appropriate spiritual, cultural, or social organizations.
